Fowles leads LSU over VandyBaton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - Sylvia Fowles scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, as 11th-ranked LSU topped Vanderbilt, 62-51, at the Maravich Center. Quianna Chaney tallied 12 points and Erica White 11 for the Lady Tigers (13-3, 2-0 SEC), who have rattled off four straight wins. Ashley Thomas had eight points and eight rebounds in the victory.
Fowles, in her third game back from knee surgery, shot 7-of-10 from the field
and also had three blocks and a pair of steals. Jessica Mooney had 15 points and Liz Sherwood 13 for the Commodores (12-5, 1-1), who had a three-game winning streak broken. Hannah Tuomi finished with 10 points for Vanderbilt, who trailed 21-10 at the half but rallied to shoot 66.7 percent (18-of-27) in the second half. However, Vanderbilt couldn't get closer than five points over the final 20 minutes. LSU took immediate command, scoring 18 of the opening 20 points over the first 10 minutes.
