Hokies extend Greenberg's contractBlacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Virginia Tech has extended the contract of men's head basketball coach Seth Greenberg through the 2012-13 season, the school announced Tuesday. Greenberg, who came to Virginia Tech in April 2003, is 291-233 overall in his collegiate career and 78-63 in four-plus seasons guiding the Hokies.
"Seth Greenberg has done an outstanding job as head men's basketball coach
since his arrival in Blacksburg," director of athletics Jim Weaver said. "We
are very pleased that he will continue to be our coach through the 2013
basketball season." Greenberg led the Hokies to the second round of the 2007 NCAA West Regional, where they lost to Southern Illinois. Virginia Tech had also reached the second round of the 2005 NIT before a setback to Memphis. That same year, Greenberg was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year. "It is an honor for me to represent Virginia Tech," Greenberg said. "I appreciate the confidence that the University has shown in the success that we have been able to establish and in the future and direction of our program." Virginia Tech is currently 11-7, and 2-2 against ACC opponents this season.
