Maryland slips past Coppin State in first round actionCollege Park, MD (Sports Network) - Crystal Langhorne posted a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds, as the top-seeded Maryland Terrapins defeated the 16th-seeded Coppin State Eagles, 80-66, in the first round of the Spokane Region of the NCAA Tournament. Marissa Coleman added 17 points and seven rebounds for Maryland (31-3), which will now head to the second round to take on the eighth-seeded Nebraska Huskers. Laura Harper contributed 14 points in the win, while Kristi Toliver posted 13 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists.
Rashida Suber led the way for Coppin State (22-12) with 25 points, while
Shalamar Oakley and Whitney Cunningham chipped in 20 and 11 points,
respectively. Although the Terps shot a lackluster 35.3 percent from the field in the first half, the team made 15-of-20 attempts from the foul line to take a 40-35 lead into the break. Maryland turned up the heat in the second stanza, shooting 52.2 percent from the floor en route to the 14-point win.
