Nebraska, Sadler agree to two-year contract extensionLincoln, NE (Sports Network) - The University of Nebraska announced it has signed head men's basketball coach Doc Sadler to a two-year contract extension through the 2013-14 season. Sadler signed a six-year contract to head the basketball program in August 2006 that paid him an annual salary of $700,000. With the extension, Sadler will now make a guaranteed salary of $800,000 for each of the six years left on his contract, not including incentives.
"Doc Sadler has done an exceptional job of motivating and preparing his
basketball team this past season," Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne
said. "We are very pleased that he has committed to staying at Nebraska for an
extended period of time. We believe the future of Nebraska Basketball is
bright under Docs leadership." Nebraska posted a 20-13 record in the 2007-08 campaign and earned a berth in the National Invitational Tournament, where the Cornhuskers lost in the second round to Mississippi, 85-75 in overtime. It proved to be the 12th 20-win season in 112 years of Nebraska basketball. He is the first coach in Nebraska history to record at least 17 victories in his first two seasons at the helm. Sadler also spent two years as head coach at UTEP, where he complied a 48-18 record in his short stint. He also led the Miners to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05 and to the NIT the next season.
