Texas Southern names Harvey men's hoops coach

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Texas Southern University named Tony Harvey its new men's head basketball coach on Friday.

Harvey had spent the past nine seasons as associate head coach at the University of Missouri. Prior to that, he was an assistant at Eastern Michigan University, McNeese State, and Southern University.

"This coach knows how to build a top basketball program and knows how to win," said TSU interim athletic director Johnnie Cole. "He is what TSU needs right now to take this program to the next level."

The Tigers finished last season with a 7-25 overall record, including a 6-12 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
