West fired by Alcorn State

Lorman, MS (Sports Network) - Alcorn State incoming athletic director Darren Hamilton has fired men's basketball coach Samuel West.

The Braves finished with a 7-24 record this past season and did not qualify for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament thanks to a 6-12 mark in league play.

Alcorn State compiled a 44-103 record in five seasons under West, who took over for the retired Dave Whitney.
