Williams leads No. 6 Louisville over Old Dominion


Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Terrence Williams scored 20 points to lead sixth-ranked Louisville over Old Dominion, 64-53, in the consolation game at the Las Vegas Invitational.

Derrick Caracter added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Cardinals (4-1), who dropped their first game this season on Friday night to Brigham Young in the semifinal. Earl Clark tallied 11 points and 15 boards for Louisville.

Gerald Lee scored a career-high 20 points for ODU (3-3), which has dropped three of four. Brian Henderson tallied 14 points for the Monarchs, who faltered down the stretch.

Leading 47-46 with just over six minutes to play, Louisville went on an 8-2 run to secure the win. Williams' three-pointer with 3:48 left capped the run for a 55-48 lead.

The Cardinals ended the contest scoring 15 of the final 19 points.

ODU trailed for most of the first half, but Abdi Lidonde's bucket late in the half gave the team a 28-26 lead, capping a 10-2 run, and the Monarchs held a 28-27 edge going into halftime.

Game Notes

This was the third game in four nights for the Cardinals...Louisville beat UNLV on Wednesday in a game not associated with this tournament...This was the first-ever meeting between these two schools.
