Buckeyes' DE Wilson done for seasonColumbus, OH (Sports Network) - Ohio State coach Jim Tressel announced Tuesday that defensive end Lawrence Wilson will need surgery after suffering a torn left anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's 16-3 victory over Purdue. This is the second consecutive season Wilson, a junior and starter for the No. 12 Buckeyes, has had cut short due to injury. He suffered a broken right leg in last season's opener against Youngstown State and missed the remainder of the season.
"I feel terrible for Lawrence. I feel worse for Lawrence than I feel for us,
because anybody can sprain an ankle and you not have him in that game, but for
a guy to go and went through a surgery a year ago, going to have to go through
a surgery now, he's a great kid, but unfortunately, that's what happens
in this game," Tressel said. The 6-foot-4, 274-pounder from Akron, Ohio, is currently eighth on the team with 18 tackles and has also registered a sack, interception and fumble recovery this season.
