Tennessee LB Mayo going pro

Knoxville, TN (Sports Network) - Tennessee linebacker Jerod Mayo will forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft, according to The Tennessean.

A consensus All-Southeastern Conference selection, Mayo led the conference in total tackles with 140 and added 8 1/2 tackles for loss, 1 1/2 sacks, and one interception in 13 games last season.

"My experience here at Tennessee has been a roller coaster ride but I wouldn't change anything," Mayo said. "The coaching staff has been behind me 100 percent. I feel like I'm in a blessed and fortunate situation to be able to make this decision. I have my degree from UT, and that was important to my family first and foremost."

Mayo is expected to be a second or third round selection in April's draft.
