2009 Grey Cup to be played in Calgary

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Canadian Football League announced Wednesday that the 97th Grey Cup championship will be held at McMahon Stadium in Calgary on November 29, 2009.

The last time Calgary hosted the CFL championship was in 2000, when the British Columbia Lions topped the Montreal Alouettes.

"As Canadians, we all understand the significance of the Grey Cup," said Stamps president Scott Ackles. "It's an honor to host the event, so we're excited about the impact it will have on our football club, our fans, our community, our province and the development of amateur football in Calgary."

The 2008 Grey Cup is scheduled for Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
