Bucs TE Stevens suspended two games

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Tampa Bay tight end Jerramy Stevens was suspended by the NFL for the first two games of the 2008 season and will be fined an additional game check for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Stevens' suspension could be stretched to three games if he gets into any other trouble between now and the start of the season.

The news of the suspension came less than a week after the team announced the resigning of the veteran, a deal met with criticism. He served a one-game suspension last season in relation to a March, 2007 arrest in Arizona on a DUI charge and possession of marijuana.

Stevens spent the first five seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, before coming to the Bucs prior to the 2007 season. In Seattle, he grabbed 130 passes for 1,458 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also added 19 catches for 215 yards and four scores in seven postseason bouts from 2003-2006.

The six-foot-seven, 260-pounder snagged 18 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns last year for Tampa Bay.
