Denver QB Cutler diagnosed with Type 1 diabetesEnglewood, CO (Sports Network) - Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler discussed his latest obstacle on Friday after doctors diagnosed him with Type 1 diabetes. Reports surfaced Thursday of the diagnosis, and a day later the 25-year-old revealed how he learned of the condition. Cutler said blood work taken from a team physical on April 16 showed the diabetes.
Cutler now takes insulin on a regular basis, but said that his diabetes is
manageable and it shouldn't affect his play on the field. "I am going to be fine. Obviously this is a serious disease and I am going to have it for the rest of my life," Cutler said. "It is not going to change me on the field, I am going to make some lifestyle changes but I am probably going to be a better quarterback this year than I was last year." Last season, Cutler completed 297-of-467 passes for 3,497 yards with 20 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
