Eskimos acquire Prefontaine from Argos


Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Eskimos have acquired veteran kicker/punter Noel Prefontaine from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for draft picks.

The Argos will receive a first-round pick in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft and a conditional pick in the 2010 Canadian Draft.

Prefontaine played 10 seasons and 171 regular-season games for the Argonauts from 1998 through 2007. He leaves as the club's second-leading scorer all-time with 935 points and its second-leading punter with 57,246 yards.

Last season, Prefontaine finished with 124 points, converting 36-of-37 PATs and 26-of-39 field goals with 10 singles. He was second in punting with an average of 45.9 yards on 120 punts.
