Giants upset of Pats was most-watched Super Bowl

New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Giants 17-14 upset of the New England Patriots was the most-watched Super Bowl in history, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Figures released Monday indicated 97.5 million viewers watched Sunday's game, which broke the mark of 94.08 million when Dallas topped Pittsburgh in 1996.

Last year's game between Indianapolis and Chicago drew 93.18 million viewers, which at the time was the second-most watched Super Bowl.

According to Nielsen Media Research, only the MASH series finale in 1983, with 106 million viewers, was seen by more people.
