Greisen, Nyenhuis and Pettis grab AFL weekly honors


New York, NY (Sports Network) - Georgia Force QB CHRIS GREISEN, Philadelphia Soul DL GABE NYENHUIS, and Dallas Desperados WR/DB WILL PETTIS have been named Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player, and Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 3 of the 2008 season.

OFFENSIVE: Greisen (6-3, 220, NW Missouri St.) completed 26-of-41 passes for 366 yards and seven touchdowns as the Force (1-2) defeated the Los Angeles Avengers (2-1), 58-34, at The Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday. Greisen led Georgias offense on eight consecutive scoring drives and nine of the teams 10 total possessions. Greisen distributed his season-high seven touchdown strikes to four different receivers, as the Force posted a season- high 389 yards of total offense. Georgia travels to Orlando to face the Predators (1-2) on Saturday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. ET (CSS - Live) in a Mitsubishi Motors Southern Division matchup.

ADT DEFENSIVE: Nyenhuis (6-3, 270, Colorado) registered three-and-a-half tackles, two-and-a-half tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one pass defensed and one blocked field goal as the Soul (3-0) defeated the New York Dragons (1-2), 63-42, at Wachovia Center on Sunday. Nyenhuis spearheaded two key second quarter defensive stands that helped Philadelphia keep its lead at seven. On New Yorks third possession of the second quarter, Nyenhuis recorded two sacks and two forced fumbles to secure the defensive stop and turn possession back to the Soul offense. On the Dragons next possession, Nyenhuis blocked a 35-yard field goal attempt by Dragons K CHRIS ONORATO to secure Philadelphias lead going into the half. During the fourth quarter, Nyenhuis and DL BRYAN SAVE made a key tackle for loss on third down from the Soul one-yard line to force a fourth-and-goal situation. The Soul travel to Los Angeles to face the Avengers (2-1) on Thursday, March 20, at 10:30 p.m. ET (CSN Philadelphia - Live, FSN Prime Ticket - Delay at 10 p.m. PT) at the STAPLES Center.

IRONMAN: Pettis (6-0, 200, Midwestern St.) recorded a game-high 12 receptions for 138 yards and four touchdowns as the Dallas Desperados (3-0) defeated the Colorado Crush (1-1), 51-40, at American Airlines Center on Monday night. Pettis single-handedly outscored the Crush offense 24-20 in the second half with four consecutive touchdown receptions of 14, 37, seven and 10 yards. On defense, his interception during Colorados second possession of the fourth quarter helped keep Dallas lead at 12 points. The Desperados travel to San Jose to take on the SaberCats (2-1) on Saturday, March 22, at 10:30 p.m. ET (FSN Southwest - Live, FSN Bay Area - 3/23 at 12:30 p.m. PT) at HP Pavilion.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Chicago QB Russ Michna and WR Damian Harrell, Cleveland QB Raymond Philyaw, Dallas QB Chris Sanders, Georgia WR Troy Bergeron and WR Charles Pauley, New Orleans QB Danny Wimprine, Orlando QB Shane Stafford and WR T.T. Toliver and Philadelphia WR Larry Brackins.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Dallas DB Bobby Perry, Georgia DB Cam Newton, New Orleans WR/DB Michale Spicer, San Jose DB Marquis Floyd and DB Clevan Thomas.

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Chicago WR/LB DeJuan Alfonzo, Orlando FB/LB Marlon Moye-Moore, Philadelphia FB/LB Clifton Smith and San Jose FB/LB Phil Glover.
