Patriots ink CB Sanders and S WilliamsFoxboro, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Patriots signed free agent cornerback Lewis Sanders and free agent safety Tank Williams on Thursday. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. In 2007, Sanders played in 14 games, including six starts, with the Atlanta Falcons. He collected 32 tackles before being placed on injured reserve with a chest injury on December 17. The Falcons released Sanders on February 15, 2008.
Originally selected by Cleveland in the fourth round (95th overall) of the
2000 draft, Sanders has played in 87 games (25 starts) with Cleveland, Houston
and Atlanta. Williams joins the Patriots after spending the last two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. A knee injury caused Williams to miss the entire 2006 season, but the six-year veteran recovered to play in 13 games (two starts) last season. In 70 career games with Tennessee and Minnesota, Williams has registered 303 tackles, 4.5 sacks and five interceptions.
