Pierce leads Lions in rout of Tiger-Cats

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Buck Pierce threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-29 passing, as the British Columbia Lions pasted the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 40-10, in a dominating performance.

Pierce was also intercepted once, while backup Jarious Jackson threw for 51 yards and a score on 5-of-7 passing for the Lions (8-5), who have won four in a row. Zac Champion also saw time and completed two passes for 11 yards and a TD.

Geroy Simon caught five passes -- two for TDs -- for 131 yards, while Paris Jackson had two touchdown catches and Clarence Coleman one for British Columbia, whose defense tallied 10 sacks.

Hamilton quarterback Quinton Porter completed 14-of-27 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, and threw two interceptions. Chris Bauman caught the only touchdown for the Tiger-Cats (2-11), whose losing streak reached six games.

The Lions hit the scoreboard early and often, as Pierce completed a 14-yard scoring pass to Paris Jackson not three minutes into the game. Pierce's 79- yard connection with Simon, and a Paul McCallum 28-yard field goal gave the Lions a 17-0 lead heading into the second frame.

Hamilton's Nicholas Setta got his team on the board with a 29-yard field goal, and BC added a safety in the later stages of the second quarter to give the Lions a 19-3 lead at halftime.

Pierce's 14-yard touchdown throw to Simon was the only score of the third quarter, as BC held a 26-3 lead heading into the final stanza.

The Tiger-Cats finally found the end zone with 11:47 left in the game, as Porter capped a nine-play, 50-yard drive with a 28-yard TD toss to Bauman.

But a nine-play, 77-yard series put the Lions back on the scoreboard, as Jarious Jackson connected with Coleman for an eight-yard touchdown. Champion's five-yard toss to Paris Jackson with 2:44 left finalized the game's scoring.
