Rams safety Carter breaks bone in foot

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - St. Louis Rams safety Jerome Carter broke a bone in his right foot and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

"Jerome Carter will be out and is a candidate for injured reserve," Rams coach Scott Linehan said. "He broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot which is similar to Todd Steussie's injury, which is about an 8-to-10 week recovery."

Carter suffered the injury in Sunday's 34-31 home loss to Arizona.

Linehan also said wide receiver Dante Hall has a significant left ankle sprain and would see how he responds in practice this week before Sunday's contest at Baltimore. With one more loss the Rams (0-5) will match the worst start in franchise history.

Also, quarterback Marc Bulger appears ready to return from a rib injury. Gus Frerotte, making his first start since the end of 2005 in place of the injured Bulger, went 24-of-43 for 262 yards against the Cardinals. He tossed three touchdown passes, but also threw three interceptions.

"Bulger will be available to play," Linehan said. "We'll make the decision as to what direction we're going. I still want him to come back when he's 100 percent."

Hall started in place of Isaac Bruce (hamstring) against Arizona. Linehan didn't know if Bruce would be ready to return against the Ravens.
