Report: Browns, Lewis agree to multi-year dealCleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns have reportedly agreed to terms on a new multi-year deal for running back Jamal Lewis. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on its website Thursday afternoon that a source at the NFL Combine confirmed the deal, which is expected to be formally announced later Thursday.
The 28-year-old back was slated to become an unrestricted free agent next
week, but the Browns apparently prevented the loss of a key cog to their 10-6
finish in 2007, in which they barely missed the playoffs. In his first season for the Browns after spending the first seven seasons of his career with division-rival Baltimore, Lewis gained 1,304 yards on 298 carries and had nine touchdowns. It was his most productive season in terms of yardage since rushing for 2,066 yards in 2003. The Tennessee product has rushed 2,120 times in his eight-year career for 9,105 yards and 54 touchdowns.
