Report: Colts ink Sanders for five years, $37.5 millionIndianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Christmas came late for Bob Sanders, as the strong safety has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts that includes about $20 million in guaranteed money. The Indianapolis Star reported the deal and its terms on its website Friday night. The 26-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. Now he will apparently be staying in Indy, as the Colts will make him the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
Sanders, in his fourth year in the league, has logged 123 tackles and 2.5
sacks in 14 games this season, along with two interceptions. If the terms of
the deal are accurate, it will surpass the five-year, $33 million contract
that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu signed last July, with $15.375 million
guaranteed.
