Report: Titans LB Fowler to be suspendedNashville, TN (Sports Network) - Tennessee Titans middle linebacker Ryan Fowler has been notified by the NFL that he faces suspension for being in violation of the league's policy for performance-enhancing drugs, according to a report on Monday. ESPN.com posted on its website that undisclosed sources had said that Fowler received a letter from the NFL on Friday that said it had "credible information" that Fowler "purchased, used or supplied" performance-enhancing drugs.
Fowler was told that the league believes it would be necessary to impose
suspension without pay, pending a future hearing that the league was trying to
arrange soon. The sources also said the information came from the NFL
security's meeting with convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs last month.
Jacobs was found dead in his Dallas-area home on Thursday, a victim of
suicide, according to the medical examiner. Peter Ginsberg, Fowler's lawyer, denied the allegations made against his client. Fowler played his first three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2004 to '06 before signing with the Titans as a restricted free agent for the 2007 season. A Titans spokesman and a NFL spokesman each said they had no comment.
