Report: Urlacher close to contract extensionChicago, IL (Sports Network) - Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has reportedly agreed to a contract extension Monday. According to the team website, which cited a source close to Urlacher, the Bears have granted him a one-year extension through the 2012 season. That includes $6 million up front and an additional $1 million per year contingent upon his participation in 85 percent of all snaps.
The 30-year-old registered 123 tackles and five sacks for Chicago in 2007. In
addition, he picked off five passes for 101 yards while returning one for a
touchdown. Urlacher, the New Mexico product, has accumulated 970 tackles and 37 1/2 sacks in 121 career games over eight seasons, all with Chicago.
