Richardson, Cahoon among CFL weekly award winnersToronto, ON (Sports Network) - Montreal Alouettes receiver Jamel Richardson and slotback Ben Cahoon highlighted the list for the top players in the CFL for Week 16. Richardson was awarded offensive honors after hauling in 12 passes for 125 yards and a trio of touchdowns as Montreal routed Hamilton, 42-11. The American-born wideout has caught 48 passes for 626 yards and eight scores over the last five games for the Als.
His selection marked the third week in four that a Montreal player has earned
the offensive honor, and the fifth time an Alouette has won this season. Calgary Stampeders defensive back Milton Collins earned the defensive award by recording three tackles, two interceptions and one sack in a 42-5 domination of Saskatchewan on Monday. His selection marked the first time in 2008 a Stamps player was given the weekly defensive award. Stampeders' kicker Sandro DeAngelis nabbed the special teams award, after making four of his five field-goal attempts, hitting all four extra point tries and adding two singles in Calgary's rout. This marks the second time this season DeAngelis has taken weekly honors, after a Week 9 selection. The top Canadian player for the week was Cahoon, who burned the Tiger- Cats defense to the tune of 13 receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown, both of which were season-highs. Cahoon, who earned his second weekly honor for the season, leads the league with 93 catches for 1,100 yards along with seven scores.
