Rivers undergoes successful knee surgerySan Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. David Chao at the Health South Surgical Center. The quarterback is now expected to begin an aggressive 4-6 month rehabilitation program.
Rivers revealed Monday that he played in the AFC Championship game with a
fully-torn ACL. He was listed as doubtful for the game but played the entire
contest, going 19-of-37 for 211 yards with a pair of interceptions in the
Chargers 21-12 loss to the New England Patriots.
