Salave'a released as 'Skins trim rosterAshburn, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins made four moves Tuesday to reduce their roster to the league-mandated 75 players, most notably releasing defensive tackle Joe Salave'a. The Redskins also released fullback Pete Schmitt, and placed offensive lineman Ross Tucker and wide receiver Jason McAddley on injured reserve.
Salave'a is a nine-year veteran originally drafted in the fourth round by the
Tennessee Titans. He played three seasons with Washington, highlighted by a
2005 campaign when he had 50 tackles, a half-sack and a forced fumble in 13
starts. Tucker signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2001, then went on to play for four other teams before returning. McAddley is a four-year veteran who played primarily on special teams during this preseason, but had two catches for 22 yards in the preseason before suffering a hamstring injury. Schmitt is an undrafted rookie from Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater, and has been nursing a shoulder injury.
