Sperduto takes over DestroyersColumbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Destroyers named Pat Sperduto as their head coach on Wednesday, replacing Doug Kay, who left in June. "Pat brings a winning tradition to Columbus along with 14 years of experience as a player and a coach in the Arena Football League," said general manager Jim Renacci.
The 41-year-old Sperduto coached the Nashville Kats to back-to-back ArenaBowl
appearances in 2000 and 2001, while posting a regular season record of 48-41-1
in six seasons. The Destroyers followed up a trip to the ArenaBowl in 2007 with a dismal 3-13 season in 2008, finishing last in the Eastern Division of the National Conference.
