Stampeders QB Burris among CFL players of the weekToronto, ON (Sports Network) - Calgary Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris was a unanimous selection for offensive player of the week for the CFL's Week 16. Burris, who had been sidelined two weeks with a dislocated shoulder, threw for 401 yards with five touchdowns and one interception in his first game back as the Stampeders beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, 38-25, on Sunday. For the season Burris has thrown for 3,898 yards, 31 TD passes and 11 interceptions.
Burris' teammate, defensive lineman Keron Williams, received defensive player
of the week honors after recording three quarterback sacks for a loss of 24
yards against Winnipeg. He also had two forced fumbles, recovering one
himself. Toronto Argonauts kicker Noel Prefontaine earned the special teams award, punting nine times for an average of 48.5 yards per attempt while adding one single in the Argos' 35-17 win over Montreal. Prefontaine was also 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, both from 26 yards. Saskatchewan slotback Andrew Fantuz was named Canadian player of the week after tying a career-high with seven catches in the Roughriders' 40-23 win at Hamilton. Fantuz also set personal bests with 240 yards receiving and three touchdown receptions, and now has 53 catches for 927 yards and six TDs this season.
