Texans' Schaub game-time decision for Week 8

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will be a game-time decision for this Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers after suffering hip and lower leg injuries in last week's loss to the Titans.

Schaub hurt his left leg in the first quarter, returned after a brief absence and then left the game for good after a vicious hit from Titans defensive end Albert Haynesworth in the second quarter.

All the tests came back negative and he participated in limited practice Wednesday and Thursday before going through full practice on Friday. Houston listed the signal-caller as probable on the injury report.

"He took all his reps today that he would normally take to get ready to play," Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said. "I felt good about what he did today. As far as going and playing, I'm still going to say it's a game-time decision because I want to see him do some more for me tomorrow, but he did do his normal work today."

Sage Rosenfels replaced Schaub against the Titans and completed 22-of-35 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns with four turnovers (three interceptions and a fumble). He would likely be the QB again on Sunday if Schaub can't go.

In other injury news, wide receiver Andre Johnson will miss another week because of a sprained knee suffered in Week 2.

"He's definitely not playing," said Kubiak of Johnson, who is listed as doubtful. "Hopefully, we'll shoot for next week. He made progress this week. You all saw him do football stuff and his knee has responded good, so hopefully next week."
