Bayville Golf Club gets 2011 Women's Mid-Amateur


Far Hills, NJ (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association announced on Thursday that Bayville Golf Club in Virginia Beach was awarded the 2011 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

The championship is scheduled to take place September 17-22 on the Tom Fazio- designed course. This will be Bayville's first USGA Championship.

"The members of Bayville are honored to be given the opportunity to host the 25th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship," said Tommy Rueger, club president. "We look forward to working with the USGA in the planning and execution of this competition. The event will be great for the entire golf community in Hampton Roads."

This year's U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship will be staged at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan, followed by the 2009 event at Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club in Ocala, Florida and then in 2010, the Women's Mid-Am will take place on the Wissahickon Course at Philadelphia Cricket Club
