Dickerson leads by four at Henrico County OpenGlen Allen, VA (Sports Network) - Bubba Dickerson carded a four-under 68 Friday and extended his lead to four strokes after two rounds of the Henrico County Open. Dickerson completed 36 holes at 14-under-par 130, two strokes of the 36-hole record.
Henrik Bjornstad also shot 68 to move into second place at minus-10. Bret
Guetz (66) and Roger Tambellini (70) share third at nine-under-par 135. Ten
more players are one shot back at minus-eight. After opening with a 62, Dickerson picked up where he left off in round one. He birdied the par-four 10th from four feet out to move to 11-under. However, he tripped to a bogey at the next. Dickerson birdied 15 and 17 at The Dominion Club to make the turn at 12-under. Around the turn, he pulled away from the field with three birdies in a four- hole span from the first. After that run got him to 15-under, Dickerson faltered to a bogey on the fifth, his 14th. He parred the final four holes to post 14-under and become the first player in event history to hold the 18- and 36-hole leads. "I probably hit the ball as well as I did yesterday," said Dickerson. "I seemed to be in between clubs a lot today. "Obviously, 14-under on this golf course is pretty good golfing. There's a lot of rough out there and I've been lucky enough to keep it out. I've hit a lot of good shots and I'm making some putts." Bjornstad also played the back nine first. Birdies on the 11th and 18th helped him make the turn at eight-under. He birdied the first, but gave that shot back as he bogeyed No. 3. Bjornstad erased that mistake thanks to a birdie on the fourth. A birdie at the sixth got him to 10-under and he parred out from there. "I've been hitting the ball a lot better than I did last year," Bjornstad admitted. "My putting is also getting to where I want it." Scott Gutschewski fired a six-under 66 to jump from a share of 40th into a tie for fifth at eight-under-par 136. He stands alongside Greg Chalmers, Chris Riley, Kris Blanks, Gary Christian, Matt Hansen, Wade Ormsby, Brad Fritsch, Keoke Cotner and Bryan DeCorso. The cut fell at two-under-par 142 with 72 players moving on to the final two rounds.
