Mickelson gains on Woods in world rankings


Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Phil Mickelson's second victory at the Colonial on Sunday helped him gain on Tiger Woods in the latest world rankings.

Woods, No. 1 for the 497th week, had his advantage over Mickelson in the No. 2 spot trimmed from 11.24 average points to 10.02 points.

Behind them, Ernie Els and Adam Scott held onto the third and fourth positions. Geoff Ogilvy moved up two places to fifth, Steve Stricker remained sixth, Jim Furyk dropped to seventh and K.J. Choi, Vijay Singh and Sergio Garcia rounded out the top 10 in the same positions they held last week.

Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington, Stewart Cink, Henrik Stenson, Rory Sabbatini, Trevor Immelman, Luke Donald, Aaron Baddeley, Anthony Kim and Lee Westwood rounded out the top 20.
