New LPGA event headed to ChinaHaikou, China (Sports Network) - The LPGA, in conjunction with the China Golf Association, IMG and Grand China Air announced the first-ever LPGA Tour event to take place in China. The Grand China Air LPGA will be played October 24-26, 2008 at Haikou West Golf Club in Hainan's capital, Haikou. "This is a landmark event for women's professional golf and we are excited to bring the best of the LPGA to China," said LPGA Commissioner Carolyn F. Bivens. "China is one of the fastest growing golf markets in Asia, and with our growing fan and sponsor interest, it is the right time to bring the LPGA there. We are looking forward to working with the China Golf Association, Grand China Air and IMG on this inaugural event." The field will consist of 63 players made up of the top 51 ranked available players on the LPGA money list as of the September 14, 2008, and 12 invited players to be decided by the China Golf Association, Grand China Air and IMG.
