Romero, Lonard make big moves in world rankings


Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Andres Romero claimed his first PGA Tour win on Sunday at the Zurich Classic and that helped him jump 19 places to 21st in the latest official world golf rankings.

Peter Lonard finished second behind Romero and that helped him jump from 72nd to 46th this week. That gains Lonard an invitation to Augusta for The Masters in two weeks.

The top four in the rankings held steady this week with Tiger Woods again followed by Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Steve Stricker.

Adam Scott moved up one to fifth, while Justin Rose jumped three to sixth. K.J. Choi held steady at No. 7 and was followed by Jim Furyk, who was down three, and Vijay Singh, who slipped one.

Rory Sabbatini and Geoff Ogilvy exchanged places with Sabbatini up to 10th.

Padraig Harrington, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, Stewart Cink, Luke Donald, Angel Cabrera and Aaron Baddeley held steady in the 12th to 18th positions.

Lee Westwood and Zach Johnson flip-flopped places with Westwood up to 19th this week.
