Surber claims first Canadian Tour winSan Luis Potosi, Mexico (Sports Network) - Russell Surber went a combined one- under par over 36 holes on Sunday to claim his first Canadian Tour win at the La Loma San Luis Potosi Open. The final two rounds were played Sunday, the end result of Thursday's first round being postponed because of wind.
Surber shot a one-under 71 in the third round, then managed an even-par 72 in
the fourth to beat Wil Collins and Adam Bland by two shots at six-under-par
282. Bland birdied the 15th, 16th and 17th holes and held a one-shot lead before he triple-bogeyed the last. Surber, after making bogey at the 17th, only needed a par at 18 to win. The disastrous finish left Bland tied with Collins for second place at four- under 284. Marc Lawless (74) and Brad Heaven (70) shared fourth place at three-under 285.
