'Canes RW Williams to miss 4-6 months

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Carolina Hurricanes right wing Justin Williams will miss four to six months with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the team announced Friday.

Williams suffered the injury with 6:11 remaining in the first period of the Hurricanes 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers Thursday. The 26 year-old will undergo reconstructive knee surgery sometime next week.

Williams, an all-star in 2007, has nine goals and 21 assists this season.

Acquired from Philadelphia during the 2003-04 season for defenseman Danny Markov, Williams has recorded 121 goals and 185 assists in 458 career games with the Hurricanes and Flyers.
