'Canes agree to terms with three players

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms on a two-year contract with defenseman Tim Conboy and one-year deals with forward Ryan Bayda and forward/defenseman Wade Brookbank.

Conboy's contract will pay him $975,000 at the NHL level over the next two seasons, while Bayda and Brookbank will each make $475,000 this season.

"Ryan, Wade and Tim were important players for the Hurricanes in the second half of last season," said Hurricanes assistant general manager Ron Francis. "At this point in their careers, they have each earned NHL contracts and a spot on the Hurricanes' roster."

Conboy took the ice in 19 games for Carolina in 2007-08, his rookie season, and picked up five assists with 60 penalty minutes. The 26-year-old native of Minnesota added two goals and two assists with 191 penalty minutes in 52 games with Albany of the AHL.

Bayda, 27, appeared in 31 games with Carolina last season, recording three goals and three assists. In 109 games over parts of four seasons, all with the Hurricanes, Bayda has posted 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points.

Brookbank had a goal and an assist with 76 penalty minutes in 32 games with the 'Canes last year. The 30-year-old has played in 100 games over five seasons with Nashville, Vancouver, Boston and Carolina, notching just five goals and three assists while racking up 305 penalty minutes.
