Avalanche's Leopold needs wrist surgery, will miss two monthsDenver, CO (Sports Network) - Colorado Avalanche defensemen Jordan Leopold will have to undergo wrist surgery, and will miss approximately two months, the team announced Friday. Leopold suffered the injury during the third period of Colorado's 4-2 win over Edmonton on Tuesday. He has no goals and one assist on the season.
The 27-year-old Leopold, who signed a two-year deal earlier this year,
played in just 15 games last season because of several injuries. He
started the year on injured reserve after hernia surgery in the offseason.
He also suffered a groin injury when he returned to action and missed the
final 25 games of the season after fracturing his wrist. Leopold had two goals and three assists last season in limited action due to the injuries.
