Blues acquire Mason from NashvilleSt. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues have acquired goaltender Chris Mason from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Mason appeared in a career-high 51 games for Nashville last season, posting a record of 18-22-6 with four shutouts and a 2.90 goals-against average. He lost his starting job late in the season to Dan Ellis, who agreed to a new contract with Nashville on Friday.
The 32-year-old Mason had spent his entire NHL career with the Predators,
playing in 44 games over parts of six seasons before making a name for himself
in 2006-07. He helped Nashville to the playoffs that season with a mark of
24-11-4 and a 2.38 GAA in 40 games. "Acquiring Chris really solidifies our goaltending position, which was one of our goals going into this [draft] weekend," said Blues president John Davidson. In 135 career NHL games, Mason has a record of 58-43-12 with 12 shutouts and a 2.61 GAA.
