Bruins give Wideman contract extensionBoston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Dennis Wideman to a multi-year contract extension. Per team policy, terms were not disclosed. Wideman posted career-highs with 13 goals, 23 assists and 36 points in 81 games for the Bruins in 2007-08. He placed second to team captain and fellow backliner Zdeno Chara in points by a defenseman.
The 25-year-old was acquired by Boston from St. Louis for forward Brad Boyes
on February 27, 2007. Over a three-year NHL career with the Blues and Bruins,
Wideman has compiled 27 goals, 85 points and 224 penalty minutes in 223 games.
