Canucks sign WellwoodVancouver, BC (Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks signed center Kyle Wellwood, general manager Mike Gillis announced Wednesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wellwood was claimed off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 25.
The 25-year-old Windsor, Ontario native recorded eight goals and 13 assists in
59 games last season with the Maple Leafs. Selected by Toronto in the fifth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Wellwood has 31 goals and 77 assists in 189 career games. The Canucks also signed forwards Ryan Johnson and Alexandre Bolduc and defenseman Nolan Baumgartner and re-signed goaltender Curtis Sanford.
