Capitals sign Semin to two-year dealArlington, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals have signed right wing Alexander Semin to a two-year contract extension. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Semin has played just three games this season because of an ankle injury, and
has one assist. However, the 23-year-old Russian had a breakout year last season with career highs of 38 goals, 35 assists and 73 points in 77 games. He led the team and tied for fourth in the NHL with 17 power-play goals. Semin was Washington's second first-round choice and the 13th overall selection of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. In 132 NHL games over three seasons, he has 48 goals and 48 assists for 96 points.
