Caps' Nylander out for seasonWashington, D.C. (Sports Network) - Washington Capitals center Michael Nylander will be sidelined for the remainder of the season following rotator cuff surgery. The recovery period is expected to span 3-6 months.
Nylander inked a four-year contract in the offseason, and posted 11 goals
and 26 assists in 40 games. His 37 points is second on the team behind Alex
Ovechkin. However, the 35-year-old center has been playing with a sore left
shoulder in recent weeks. Nylander posted career highs in goals (26), assists (57) and points (83) in 79 games for the New York Rangers last season. The 14-year veteran has recorded 200 goals and 446 assists for Hartford, Calgary, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Washington, Boston and New York.
