Dallas acquires defenseman Jancevski

Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars on Tuesday acquired defenseman Dan Jancevski from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Junior Lessard.

The 26-year-old Jancevski, who will report to the Stars AHL affiliate in Iowa, returns to the franchise that drafted him in the second round in 1999. He played in two NHL games this season with the Lightning and spent most of his time with Norfolk (AHL). He signed a one-year deal as a free agent with Tampa this past summer and has also been a part of the Montreal Canadiens franchise.

Lessard, 27, played in two games for Dallas this season and did not record a point. The 2003-04 winner of the Hobey Baker Award -- given to the top collegiate player in the United States each year -- has played in eight career NHL games, all with Dallas. He originally signed with the Stars in 2004.
