Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Madden tabbed as Selke finalistsNew York, NY (Sports Network) - Detroit Red Wings forwards Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, along with New Jersey Devils forward John Madden were nominated as finalists for the Frank J. Selke trophy, given to the NHL's best defensive forward. Datsyuk, who is also a Lady Byng finalist, posted 97 points on the year, but amassed an NHL-best plus-41 rating and won more than 54 percent of his faceoffs. His teammate Zetterberg notched career-highs in goals (43), assists (49) and points (92) but also won 666 faceoffs and registered 53 takeaways. Neither had been Selke finalists in their respective careers. Madden, who won the Selke in 2001 and was also runner-up in 2003 and 2004, posted his first career 20-goal season while winning almost 54 percent of his draws and recorded three short-handed tallies. Carolina Hurricanes forward Rod Brind'Amour won the award in each of the last two seasons. The winner will be announced at the NHL award ceremony on June 12 in Toronto.
