Ducks sign Perry for five years

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks locked up Corey Perry with a five-year contract on Tuesday, keeping the high-scoring winger with the club through 2012-13.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a southern California paper is reporting the deal could be worth $26.625 million for the duration.

"Corey is one of the top young players in the NHL today," said Ducks general manager Brian Burke. "He's a true Duck, a hard-nosed goal scorer who's difficult to play against."

Perry, who was a restricted free agent, posted a team-and-career-best 29 goals for Anaheim last season, adding 54 points in 70 games. He finished second on the team to Ryan Getzlaf in scoring and was voted a Western Conference All- Star.

The Peterborough, Ontario native was instrumental in the Ducks' 2007 Stanley Cup championship run, racking up six goals and 15 points in 21 postseason contests as Anaheim bested Ottawa.

A first-round (28th overall) selection by the Ducks back in 2003, Perry has registered 54 goals and 123 points in 208 career games heading into his fourth NHL season.
