Ellis, Nashville shut out Dallas

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Dan Ellis posted his third shutout of the season and J.P. Dumont had the only goal as the Nashville Predators edged the Dallas Stars, 1-0, at American Airlines Center.

Ellis stopped 22 shots and Alexander Radulov added an assist for Nashville, which has won two of three and four of its last six games overall. The Preds also snapped a seven-game skid in Dallas dating back to a 2-1 win on March 7, 2003.

Marty Turco made 29 saves for Dallas, which had a four-game winning streak come to an end, as well as a five-game streak on its home ice.

The Predators had the chance to jump on top in the first period, but Turco stopped Scott Nichol on a penalty shot. The Stars were skating on the man- advantage when Nichol went in on the breakaway and was hauled down by Dallas defenseman Sergei Zubov at 6:35.

Turco also stoned Nichol on a short-handed breakaway midway through the second stanza.

Dumont finally broke the scoreless tie when he positioned himself to the left side of the net and poked home the loose disc as it caromed through the crease with 3:18 left in the stanza.

Ellis was perfect through the third, turning aside 11 shots. Dallas was blanked for the second time this season.
