Five players added to NHL All-Star rosters


New York, NY (Sports Network) - Anaheim Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer and forward Corey Perry led a list of five players added to the NHL's All-Star rosters Tuesday.

Joining Niedermayer and Perry as additions to the Western Conference squad is Dallas Stars forward Mike Ribeiro. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin and Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas were added to the Eastern Conference roster for the game to be played Sunday in Atlanta.

The players named today were added to replace Colorado Avalanche forward Paul Stastny, Detroit Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg, Stars defenseman Sergei Zubov, Penguins forward Sidney Crosby and New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.

Niedermayer and Perry join defenseman Chris Pronger and forward Ryan Getzlaf as All-Stars from the Ducks, giving the defending Stanley Cup champions a league-most four representatives on the Western Conference roster.
