Hurricanes recall three, place three on IRRaleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Due to a flu bug on the team, the Carolina Hurricanes recalled defensemen Casey Borer, Tim Conboy and Joey Mormina from Albany of the American Hockey League on Thursday. To make room on the roster, the team placed center Matt Cullen, right wing Patrick Eaves and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg on injured reserve.
Borer will be making his second appearance with the Hurricanes this season. In
his first stint with the team in January, he notched a goal and two assists in
his first eight games in the NHL. Conboy made his NHL debut on January 12 and had an assist in a 5-4 loss to Colorado. Mormina has not yet appeared in a game in the NHL. The 25-year old was a sixth-round selection in the 2002 draft by the Philadelphia Flyers and joined the Carolina organization as a free agent in the past offseason. The Montreal native has scored two goals and earned four assists in 51 games with Albany this season.
