Isles ink Hunter to five-year dealUniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Islanders signed forward Trent Hunter to a five-year contract extension on Friday. Hunter, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, has eight goals and 24 assists in 62 games this season. He has 69 goals and 88 assists in 306 games over five seasons, all with the Islanders.
The 27-year-old Hunter was drafted by Anaheim in the sixth round of the 1998
NHL draft, but he was traded to the Islanders in 2000. He has five points in
his last eight games.
