Isles place trio on injured reserveUniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Islanders placed center Mike Sillinger and defensemen Chris Campoli and Andy Sutton on injured reserve Tuesday. Sillinger is recovering from hip surgery. The veteran pivot compiled 14 goals and 12 assists in 52 games last season for the Islanders, who posted a 35-38-9 record to finish in the cellar of the Atlantic Division.
Campoli is out with a shoulder injury and Sutton is sidelined after undergoing
hand surgery. The Islanders also reassigned goaltender Yann Danis, forwards Jeremy Colliton, Mitch Fritz, Tim Jackman, Kurtis McLean and Trevor Smith and defenseman Chris Lee to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League. Lee, who left Monday's 6-0 preseason loss to the Panthers on a stretcher following a hit from behind, was cleared to return to New York this morning after being hospitalized overnight in Florida. The Islanders kick off the 2008-09 regular season Friday at New Jersey.
